THE FIRST 1 ATOM THICK MAGNET IS BORN

THE FIRST 1 ATOM THICK MAGNET IS BORN

It twill be a real revolution in the field related to materials used in electronics

It’s Washington University and MIT’s (Massachussets Institute of Technology of Boston) fault: in fact the new material was created by a team formed by researchers coming from both universities. It is very innovative, because it will enable to build thinner and more efficient devices, more and more powerful memories, quantum computers and so on.
This newborn magnet is 2D, 2-dimensional, and is formed by a sheet of triiodide cromium. The scientists have chosen this material because it is a crystal formed by many overlapping sheets, which can be separated in ultra-thin layers, till it reaches the 1 single atom thickness.
The magnetism, furtermore, arises at temperatures which have never been seen: -228° and it appears at alternate layers (only one sheet is magnetic, not 2, yes 3, and so on).
Even if it is in experimental phase, the researchers are very optimistic and sure about the fact that we are facing a new generation of 2D magnets.

Also CELMI, thanks to its constant commitment on innovative projects and research, is able to study, together with you, the most suitable product for your needs. Contact us, we will be at your disposal to realize ad hoc appliances for any weighing requirement. Test us.
